Beauty Questions & Answers- Part-3

Questions.

I love the way tall boots look but I’m only 5’1”. How can I wear them without my legs looking even shorter?

Answers.

First of all, keep your boot height to a minimum. Tall boots are chic, but pettites should never buy boots that go past the knee. In other words, over-the-knee pairs definitely won’t work for you. You won’t look very chic if you get that squatting effect everyone looks down on. To give yourself an extra lift, go for chunky heels. They’ll give you height without the pain of wearing high heels, and you’ll feel more comfortable hanging out with that cute basketball player from history class. Keep in mind, there are some cool shoe boot versions that will look great with those new black pants you bought last month. Don’t rule them out completely.

Questions.

I saw this great winter coat that I have to have, but it’s really not warm. Should I buy it?

Answers.

Your mother would freak! “I don’t care how chic it is, you’re not going out of this house dressed like that!” she’d say. But if your mom’s chic level is anything like my mom’s—even though she’s the greatest mom in the world--all the more reason for you to buy it, right? You first need to ask yourself what’s more important: looking good or freezing your butt off? If you go with your fashion sense rather than your senses, make sure that the coat size is large enough for you to wear extra layers underneath. Just remember, no matter how cool the coat is you won’t look very chic shivering in it with your nose running while talking to the guys at a football game.

Questions.

What are some cool cover-ups to wear over my strapless winter formal dress? My everyday peacoat just won’t cut it.

Answers

Put that peacoat thought on the very back burner, girl. The last thing you want to do is wear a grungy old jacket over that sexy dress of yours; you’ll totally kill the effect. So remember, when buying formalwear; always ask the salesperson if the outfit comes with a matching jacket or accessories. You can warm up a bit with long, dramatic gloves or a matching draped scarf. If your dress doesn’t come with a jacket, ask the salesperson what style jacket would look best and try to find one on sale or borrow from a pal. The bottom line: You’re not going to be wearing it for very long so get something that will carry you through the evening and you’ll probably never have to wear it again.
