Then, you have to EAT right, baby! Didn't your mamma tell you, "you are what you eat"? Get yourself some wheat germ, some Silica capsules and drink lots of milk if you want to see results. You can't PAINT on strength, just reinforce it.
You get yourself some rubber gloves with cotton liners and wear them over a thick layer of Vaseline for a deep conditioning treatment when you're home and watching television. You think nice nails look good with those cracked old chapped hands of yours?.....PLEASE!!!!
Do a manicure once a week ...and listen, a MANICURE isn't putting new polish over that chipped sorry old stuff you still have on from last week either, Miss Honey!
BUY IT OR BORROW IT: Cotton Balls, Nail Polish Remover (acetone free), bowl of warm soapy water, orange stick, nail file or emery board, nail brush, cuticle remover, hand cream, base coat, nail polish, top coat.
1. Take off your old polish by holding a piece of cotton soaked in nail polish remover for about 10 seconds. This actually dissolves the polish and avoids all that rubbing of the nails and cuticles.
2. File your nails using an emery board or a nail file. File in one direction at a time, if you want to avoid splitting your nails be gentle with them! Angle your emery board slightly under the nail and never file in the corners...O.K.?
3. Soak your hands in warm sudsy water for a few minutes to soften the cuticle.
4. Use a clean nail brush to remove any dirt under the nails and gently scruff off any hardened skin. Massage some oily cuticle remover into the nail bed and use the tip of an orange stick covered in cotton to gently push back the cuticle from the nail.
5. Massage a good moisturizer into and around the nail bed and hands and remove any excess on the nail with the cuticle remover on cotton tip of orange stick.
6. Apply a top coat to protect the nail form discoloration and prepare the surface for an even coat of polish.
7. Apply two coats of polish , keeping them as THIN as possible. Start at the base of the center of your nail and use three strokes to cover the entire surface...MIDDLE...LEFT SIDE...RIGHT SIDE.
Take your time, Honey, or you'll get too heavy and have to start over...I always wait at least 4 minutes between coats and keep a cotton-tipped orange stick saturated with remover around for quick touch-ups.
ALWAYS apply a top coat when the nails are totally dry, and NEVER put on a bracelet or rings until you can lick a nail with your tongue and not taste something nasty!
