Here's a sneak peek backstage at the New York and European spring collections.
Super-long locks scored big for spring, complemented by soft, touchable texture. Unlike past product-heavy seasons, hair is simply finished with mousse and a shine-enhancing serum, to promote hair's natural movement and sheen.
Sleek Simplicity
Hair is free-flowing with lots of natural swing and body at the ends, not the roots. At Geoffrey Lee, hairstylist Alan Whyte, ARTec Global Design Team member/stylist at Nubest & Co., exaggerated hair's swing with tiny weights at the bottom, to create a "beautiful dead-straight line that swung like a pendulum."
The Glamour Factor
Chignons and intricately detailed undoes are back. At both the Germon Atelier and Joanna Mastrianni shows, Richard Dalton, Paul Mitchell fashion director and the Paul Mitchell Style Team created sophisticated styles accessorized with braids, feathers and flowers. To keep hair clean and uncluttered, detailing was limited to the back of the head.
The "New" Ponytail
This casual pulled-back look is an update on a timeless classic. Seen at the Emporio Armani show, Mitch Berry, editorial stylist/spokesperson for Premier Salons says this season's pony is effortless and 100 per cent feminine, with hair pulled back loosely and secured at the nape.
