What not to do

Do take a deep breath. Dermatologists say if you get the occasional pimple, it's probably because you're stressed out or your hormones are temporarily acting a little wacky. The best thing to do is relax about it --- the bump on your face that looks like Mount Vesuvius to you is probably barely visible to anyone else.

What you want to do is gently dry up the oil that's built up into the pimple without irritating your skin. Begin treating it at night, before bed, with benzoyl peroxide (bpo).

Apply a clear (so that it will be invisible) formulation of bpo in the morning for a total of two applications a day; more frequent use may irritate your skin. Apply the bpo only on the blemish, since it may cause skin to redden a bit. The next morning, follow your cleansing regimen with ANEW Perfecting Lotion for Problem Skin; its salicylic acids will help clear up that blemish. If bothersome dryness, peeling, swelling, redness, burning or itching occurs, discontinue use.

Depending on the cause of the blemish --- stress vs. hormones --- it should disappear after a couple of days' treatment.

Assuming you don't have a chronic blemish problem, switch back to ANEW Perfecting Complex for Face after your skin clears up.
