Making Over Multicultural Men

Guys, give your hair a fresh twist with chemical texturizers and colour.

"Men with African-American hair are very style conscious about their hair," reports Robert Allicock, owner of Salon Allicock in Montreal, Quebec. "They no longer just want a basic cut, they want something different and aren't afraid to experiment with different cuts and chemical treatments to help achieve the look they're after."
Allicock, who picked up four trophies at the 1998 SIFA Awards, including Canadian Supercurly Hairstylist of the Year, recommends trying some hair colour on for size: blonde, red and auburn are trés cool. For those of you who are a little more conservative, try a chemical texturizing service to give your hair extra oomph.
"This in-salon service lasts about four weeks and gives hair movement and shine," Allicock explains. "Unlike a relaxing treatment, results are very subtle and natural looking."
If you have a thinning crown, Allicock recommends keeping it short. Because hair is almost the same colour as the scalp, sparse locks can be easily concealed
